The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET, formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test, is an all India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue MBBS.

NEET exam is very important because it is the only medical entrance exam conducted in India. This includes the admission to MBBS course in all government medical institutes and also the admissions to AIIMS and JIPMER. As entrance examinations to AIIMS and JIPMER have been replaced by NEET.

NEET 2022 : Eligibility Criteria

Qualifying Exam for NEET 2022

  • Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects from a recognized board.

  • Class 12 or equivalent appearing aspirants are also eligible to apply for NEET.

Minimum Age Requirement for NEET 2022

Candidates must have completed 17 years as on December 31, 2022.

Maximum Age Limit*

The maximum age of limit will be 25 years for candidates belonging to the general category. For candidates belonging to SC/ST & OBC category, the age limit is 30 years

Qualifying Marks

The class 12 percentage required for NEET 2022 exam is separate for each category and can be listed as under. NEET eligibility marks in class 12 to be considered are aggregate marks only for PCB subjects

  • UR - 50%,

  • OBC/SC/ST - 40%,

  • PWD - 45%

What is the Maximum Attempts for NEET exam?

There are no restrictions on the maximum attempt of the candidates.

Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign Nationals aspirants are eligible to apply

Qualification Criteria

  • The applicants must clear the qualifying exam from a recognized board with an individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
  • An aggregate of 50% marks (40% for OBC/SC/ST and OBC-PH/SC-PH/ST-PH & 45% for General-PH) in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology is also necessary.
  • The appearing candidates are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats

The applicants of Indian national/ OCIs/ NRIs/ PIOs/ FNs are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats. The candidates of Jammu & Kashmir, who have opted for seats under All India Quota, will have to submit a copy of the system-generated Self-Declaration.

Ans. There is no change in the exam pattern of NEET 2022 and will remain the same as the previous NEET examinations. Although, due to increasing cases of covid, NTA may conduct NEET 2022 in computer-based mode, like JEE Main.
